The 3 step process that changed my life

There's no need to read this blog if your life is perfect.

But that’s not the human experience.

We all want financial freedom, better health, and loved ones who care about us.

All these goals are possible.

But there is only one way to go get them.

We must improve.

Our ability to learn and grow is within us from the moment we are born.

No baby crawls forever.

We all have this burning desire to improve.

But how do we go about this?

I sat alone in Adelaide.

My fifth game in a row of not playing a single minute.

Recently failed long-term relationship.

A college dropout with no degree.

I wasn’t ticking a single goal in my life.

I had to change, I had to improve.

Here is my three-step process for how I improved all aspects of my life.

Friendships.

Relationship.

And career.

Call it triple-A.

Accountability

Awareness

Action

Accountability.

There is true power in taking ownership.

Standing up.

Owning the situation we are in.

Saying, I put myself here and I can get myself out.

Make no mistake, there are life moments that shake our very core.

And almost all these moments we have no control over.

Life will throw shit at us.

But we can always control our response.

We are not what happens to us, but how we respond.

When my life continued in a direction I wasn’t happy with.

Failing career.

Failed relationship.

Alone.

I had to take accountability for my life responses.

I had to approach each day with a new willingness to learn.

I had to accept my current way of thinking would lead to the same unhappy results.

This is hard.

Taking accountability for my situation involved many tears.

The process took time.

Time to accept this new reality.

Time to forgive me.

Time to realize that I tried my best with what I knew.

And I should be proud of that.

The ups and downs of life had lead me to this insight.

For that, I am very grateful.

The new beginning.

Round 2.

I took my power back while taking accountability for my situation.

It's time to take our power back.

Let's own our mistakes.

Let's also own our victories.

Accountability is the first step in becoming the person we always dreamed of being.

Awareness

Now, what even is awareness?

Awareness is the process of learning to understand ourselves.

Self-reflection on our history and its impact on who we are today.

Knowing our strengths and weaknesses.

Listening to our emotions and inner voice.

The list can go on forever.

Awareness is to be conscious.

Becoming conscious in decision-making changes the way we view everything.

It helps bring awareness to many self-realizations.

Current habits could be hurting us.

For me.

My extreme competitiveness was causing me to fall short in pressure situations.

The work I was doing in the weight room was causing more harm than good.

Only to name a few.

This newfound awareness came only with the help of mentors and an open mind.

Eduardo, a good friend, and mentor challenged me to ask questions for all parts of my life.

Why am I doing this?

Is this helping me achieve my goals?

Who did I learn this from?

What surrounding environment affected my thought process?

Am I following mentors who I want to replicate?

Asking questions gives us the ability to make conscious decisions moving forward.

No longer are we a prisoner of our past.

We gain the skill to make clear decisions.

Awareness creates change.

Action

It's showtime.

No more complaining, no more telling friends about exciting plans.

Let's put the lessons we are learning into action.

It's scary, I know.

Change is hard.

But nothing meaningful comes in life without taking the first scary step.

We must get uncomfortable.

Focussing on what we can control here becomes pivotal.

One small step at a time.

We want to start reading, focus on one page.

We want to eat healthier, one apple at a time.

Make these first changes as easy and fun as possible.

Build on each habit with another small habit, and then another one.

Create an accountability board, or find someone to join you on the journey.

Genuine change takes time.

The rewards won't happen overnight.

But we must trust the process.

We will fail.

But we will learn.

We will try again a little better than last time.

1% improvement every day creates a life completely unrecognizable.

Actions create our reality.

It's all up to you.

Take back your power with accountability. Seek awareness with an open mind. Build discipline through action to create new habits.

Accountability

Awareness

Action

Let's make our goals a reality.
